Spring Fishing Report 2014

Spring fishing in the Jackson area is in full swing right now with the Snake, South Fork, Henry’s Fork and even the Green River all fishing well.  Although many of us have had enough of the snow and cold and are looking forward to the warmer days of Spring, it can also be a mixed blessing for the fishing.  Warmer temperatures during the day feel great on the skin that has been hidden under layers of clothes for the last four to five months but these same temps can also turn clear and fishable water into a muddy mess by the late afternoon.  As the day temperatures continue to rise and melt the valley snow during the day, it is more important to pay attention to the low temperatures at night.  If the temperature is falling below freezing you can expect the rivers to remain clear.  Keep in mind that there are two run-off periods.  The first is “run-off” occurs due to the snow in valley melting which will  some of the main feeder stream
